What do you wish you’d known when you started out?

As I near a decade in my career, I’ve come to realize how important it is to focus on building experiences and skill sets, rather than just chasing brand names. Early on, I felt like working at FAANG/Big Tech was the only path I should pursue, and I ended up putting myself in 'golden handcuffs,' thinking that was the only way to succeed. I recently saw a TikTok that really resonated with me—it talked about the value of oscillating between brand roles to boost your resume and technical roles to deepen your skills. After spending the last decade in Big Tech, I’m excited for my next chapter, which will be outside of those companies, giving me the space to learn, grow, try something new and align better with my passion areas.

Best career advice you've ever received?

One of my favorite managers during my time at Meta, Katie B., taught me how to sell with both grit and grace, and I’m always thankful for her for that. Her approach to leading with kindness, especially when working with clients, has shaped the way I approach my work. That lesson has carried me far in my career, helping me build stronger relationships and navigate even the toughest situations with empathy and professionalism.

What leadership qualities are important to you?

I think all leaders need to understand - situational empathy. The ability to understand the feelings others in a specific context or situation. Situational empathy requires active listening and adaptability, as the emotional responses and support required can vary greatly depending on the environment or challenge someone is dealing with. It’s about being present and emotionally attuned to what others are going through in real time. Employees come from different cultural, social, and professional backgrounds, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences. Situational empathy allows individuals to recognize and appreciate these differences, understanding how diverse backgrounds influence responses to workplace challenges or interactions.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

Microsoft Excel - I am not a math person lol.

And for fun, what is your favorite wardrobe staple?

While not technically part of the wardrobe, having great hair is something I strive for every day. I truly believe that a fresh, salon-look hairstyle can elevate any no-makeup day or even a casual outfit. It’s something that just doesn’t work in reverse—great hair and no makeup still looks polished, but amazing makeup paired with bad hair just doesn’t hit the same. Haircare is essential for me, and it’s always the finishing touch that pulls everything together.
