In Conversation with Rebecca Cea

Tell us about your background:

I work in fabric research and development focused in women's and men’s fashion. I have 12 years of experience across six luxury fashion houses in New York and London. I have worked for renowned houses including Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, and most recently Galvan London. Lastly, I’ve helped to launch, manage, and elevate start-up luxury labels Monse in 2015 and Casablanca Paris in 2020.

What do you wish you’d known when you started out?

I wish I had known that I didn’t need a fashion degree from a prestigious school. Networking, along with maintaining strong work relationships is the key to success.

Best career advice you've ever received?

Continue to train your eye.

What leadership qualities are important to you?

The ability to stay true to your vision throughout your career and also to always value your team.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

Reinventing myself when I moved to London to continue my career.

And for fun, what is your favorite wardrobe staple?

An Oscar de la Renta wool crepe dress.
