Tell us about your background:

I started out as pre-med and graduated with a degree in Neurobiology & Physiology. But growing up with a love for fashion, it was hard to ignore that calling toward the end of college. Pivoting was a novel idea back then, and I decided to make the bold move of dropping that dream and picking up another. I began my career in the heyday of magazine editorial and moved over to brand communications at DKNY shortly thereafter. In 2009, I pioneered their launch into social media, which led to my book LEAVE YOUR MARK. I’ve straddled the brand marketing side in-house and via consulting for the past six years, and every day is a new adventure. LEAVE YOUR MARK is also a weekly podcast and college community. Mentorship has always been important to me, and now it’s officially my side hustle.

What do you wish you’d known when you started out?

I was lucky and cared about my reputation from an early age, but the idea of creating a personal brand was foreign. I put my head down and did the work. I don’t regret that, but having an understanding of the bigger picture and how I fit into it would have been a game-change back then.

Best career advice you've ever received?

From my Grandmother Hilda: “Show me your friends, and I’ll tell you who you are.” Aka be careful who you surround yourself with.

What leadership qualities are important to you?

Leading by example, giving credit where credit is due, and lifting up others.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

Leaving DKNY after 17 years and starting out on my own.

And for fun, what is your favorite wardrobe staple?

I’m an accessories girl. I need a different shoe for every outfit.
