In Conversation with Susan Nee
Tell us about your background:
Early in my childhood, I grew up in Manhattan where my father was in the Navy, and he traveled internationally in Greece, Paris, and China. He brought back souvenirs from different countries that inspired HR in the fashion world. I have over 14 years HR experience in the healthcare industry. I am making HR transfer skills into fashion HR where I can get exposure and learn about fashion. I can use my multi-langauges in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and basic French.
What do you wish you’d known when you started out?
I should have joined this co-lab early so I can bring strong network in the fashion industry in hr.
Best career advice you've ever received?
The best career advice that I have received from other network members is that I need to focus my mindset, clearly set the target list of the company and follow up with the recruiter.
What leadership qualities are important to you?
My leadership style is to engage employees and reward them for doing well in their performance.
What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?
My biggest challenge to get into fashion hr and connecting with the recruiter in the fashion industry.
And for fun, what is your favorite wardrobe staple?
My fun favorite wardrobe staple is that I like to read all new styles of fashion clothing and accessories.
