Tell us about your background:

I went to college at FIT and graduated with a BS in Production Management. I went on to pursue a career in production and supply chain management and worked at companies such as Nili Lotan, Alexis and MZ Wallace. Throughout my career, working at various companies, my favorite part was always working closely with the factories. I would sit alongside very talented seamstresses as we created beautiful garments from scratch. We spent a lot of time correcting patterns, negotiating sew prices, pressing garments then repressing garments. I love being on a factory floor. I fostered very close relationships with the NYC garment district factories and after about eight years of producing other designer’s ideas I took a leap of faith and designed and produced a collection of my own. In 2019, I launched a capsule collection consisting of four styles, two bralettes and two panties. It did not sell, no one wanted it. It was very disheartening and scary. However, after reaching out to peers, industry professionals and buyers I talked through my concerns, took some advice and kept pushing along. Listening has been a valuable asset to my business so far, so here I am to meet some new people and listen a little more.

What do you wish you’d known when you started out?

When I first began my journey in the fashion industry, I wish I knew having a background rich with internship experiences provides an excellent stepping stone into employment opportunities. When in college, reach out to every company you like and ask about internship openings. Companies are ALWAYS hiring interns. Something I wish I knew a while back. They’re also great because you learn twice as much on the field as you do in a classroom.

Best career advice you've ever received?

Don't take advice from someone you wouldn't trade places with.

What leadership qualities are important to you?

The best leaders I've experienced are ones that gave me the space to figure things out on my own and make mistakes. Not being micromanaged or handed answers allows a person to grow significantly in their field. Also, I've learned that treating people with respect and listening to what they have to say is the best way to receive the same in return.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

Starting my own lingerie brand has definitely been my biggest challenge so far in my career. I’ve worked for small companies where I've worn many hats. But I never had to wear as many hats as I do now. It's challenging every single day but having the opportunity to bring to life my own ideas is incredibly rewarding and I don't take it for granted.

And for fun, what is your favorite wardrobe staple?

Very classic answer but I love a crisp silk blouse. I always feel incredibly sexy but put together while wearing silk.
