Tell us about your background:

I am an award-winning creative director with a focus on brand storytelling, content creation, and creative strategy. I’ve led copy, creative and social teams at some of America’s top fashion brands like Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Banana Republic, and Express. Prior to working on the brand side, I was a Senior Editor at InStyle Magazine and also did my rounds at Vogue, The New York Times, New York Magazine, etc. While at Oscar de la Renta, I had the honor of writing a book entitled, An American Icon, alongside Oscar.

What do you wish you’d known when you started out?

I wish I would have known more people! Networking is so important. I went to a small state university so I didn't come out of college with a bunch of contacts—so I had to work twice as hard to catch up. Now, I know how invaluable that is!

Best career advice you've ever received?

"Don't be an island." Again, it goes back to networking and building cross-functional relationships within an organization.

What leadership qualities are important to you?

I really love a leader who empowers their teams to do great work and take risks. I try to instill that in my teams too. No risk, no reward.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

The biggest challenge early in my career was learning how to navigate the politics of Corporate America. School prepared me for the hard skills but not the soft skills.

And for fun, what is your favorite wardrobe staple?

A white silk blouse. It's so iconic; I can style it a million different ways.
