Tell us about your background:

I’m a 29-year-old Pakistani with a degree in fashion design. I worked at one of the top leading fashion brands as a pret wear designer (Ethnic by Outfitters) prior to moving to the US. Due to my visa restrictions, I wasn’t able to pursue a career until last year when I got my work permit. I’ve worked as a fashion consultant, designer, pr assistant and stylist. Also dabbled in fashion writing for a couple of months.

I currently work as a digital creator and looking to kick-start my career in fashion PR in the US.

What do you wish you’d known when you started out?

I wish I knew the ins and outs of networking, as where I come from it wasn’t really needed.

Best career advice you've ever received?

Don’t be afraid to start all over again. Never stop learning.

What leadership qualities are important to you?

Humility
Self awareness
Credibility
Respect

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

The gap on my resume due to my visa restrictions is proving to be quite a hindrance in starting my career in the US.

And for fun, what is your favorite wardrobe staple?

A crisp white button down.
