Tell us about your background:

I am a native New Yorker and was exposed to iconic photography and the fashion world from an early age, which parlayed into a career in the industry. Starting off at The Andy Warhol Foundation and Ian Schrager Hotels, I then went to work for Art + Commerce—where for nearly a decade, I worked with the most established photographers in their fields as well as many of the world’s leading luxury, fashion and beauty brands. Additionally, I was instrumental in developing Art + Commerce's archive and licensing business bringing in Peter Beard, Jack Pierson, and the Guy Bourdin Estate.

I then worked as a photo editor at W Magazine, and D Magazine—a weekly supplement for La Repubblica, Italy's leading national newspaper, followed by a 7-year tenure as Photography Director at Martha Stewart Omnimedia overseeing all photographic direction of the MSLO brands, including multiple publications and the commission of video for the web and for the company's digital magazines. Wanting to break away from publishing, I was recruited by a London based start up. Luxup, a luxury brands and editorial website.

After the start up experience, I have been consulting and using my expertise either hiring the visual talent or representing the talent to tell a brand’s story. Clients included: Elf Cosmetics, Partners & Spade, Shinola, Sonos, AERIN, Michael Kors, Oil of Olay, Fekkai, MaxMara, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Mastercard, Loewe, Valentino, Tom Ford Beauty, It Cosmetics, Gucci Westman Atelier.

What do you wish you’d known when you started out?

I wish I knew how important it was to manage up.

Best career advice you've ever received?

Always be actively growing your network even when you have a job.

What leadership qualities are important to you?

Honesty, compassion, inspiration. I respect a leader who is direct and doesn't mince words even if the truth is uncomfortable. I also appreciate compassion. I have always tried to lead with compassion. A good leader will also inspire and support to bring out the best in their team.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

It’s been challenging to stay in one lane when trying to pivot in an industry that has changed and continues to change.

And for fun, what is your favorite wardrobe staple?

A great jacket. I have been building a collection started by my mother who was a fashion editor. One of my favorites is a Moschino striped jacket or any YSL that my mother passed down.
