the co-lab Workshop: Sustainability in Fashion 101

Co-lab members Alexa Steiner & Caroline Priebe will cover the history and basics of sustainability in fashion.

This workshop will cover the history and basics of sustainability in fashion (which is a giant topic that we could do 50 workshops on!). Join us if you are in the early stages of learning about sustainable fashion; come learn some history, important terms, and do activities that show just how complex of a problem sustainability is in this industry. We will also explore some innovations in business models that aim to combat the current issues.

Caroline Priebe

The founder of The Center for the Advancement of Garment Making, Caroline Priebe has over 20 years experience in sustainable fashion as a designer, educator, business owner, stylist and consultant. At The CAGM, she creates sustainability strategies for brands and fashion professionals who desire to create transparent, climate beneficial, regenerative, circular business models/apparel. Caroline is also a Life Coach utilizing mind management tools that tap into the neuroplasticity of our brains to help women quickly heal from heartbreak, get unstuck personally or professionally, make aligned decisions and take bold action to design and manifest a nourishing life.

Alexa Steiner

Alexa Steiner currently works as a Sustainability & Innovation Consultant in NYC. With a love for education and the desire to perpetually learn, she has an undergraduate degree with a double major in Political Science and Sociology, a diploma in Communications and Public Relations, and a Masters of Business Administration with a focus on Sustainable Innovation. She has also worked in the world of higher education as a research assistant and co-author of a book about sustainable family businesses, with her research focusing on a sustainable family business focused in the personal care/beauty industry. A total nerd at heart, she hopes to never stop learning.

Please note, to ensure our speakers have a full and engaged session, we accept cancellations up to 24 hours in advance. Multiple missed sessions before the 24 hour cutoff will result in a temporary hold on your account to register for future workshops. If you are unable to attend, please either cancel your Eventbrite ticket or contact Natalie Garagiola, Emily Stone or Alexa Steiner at the co-lab.
